I am truly amazed by a friend who only recently embraced investing as a way to accumulate wealth and plan his future. He needed only few words of encouragement from me (in passing), one hour presentation from a financial planner (not me), and one investment in mutual fund! And now he is talking almost every minute on his unit’s NAV, stock markets rally, and his plan to invest more in mutual funds and capital market.
He is truly a total convert!
Me? I have been thinking, living, eating and even got a license to advise people on financial planning, but I walk the talk so negligibly. I have had meagre investment, less secure retirement plan, very modest education plan for my three kids, and nonsense saving ratio to gross income.
Currently, I save only 10% of my pay, and spend the rest mercilessly – of course I do have negligible investment here and there. But its just not agressive enough.
So, I guess, I will have to re-learn from my colleague and get infected with his new passion, which I somehow unintendedly contributed to.
